Reports on the death of apps have been greatly exaggerated, according to the latest figures from the App Store.
App-etite for more
Since launching in 2008, the Apple App Store has processed over 140 billion downloads.
At the recent iPhone 7 launch, Apple CEO Tim Cook also revealed the App Store had seen 106% year-on-year growth over the past two months.
Pundits have speculated that Pokemon Go is largely responsible for the surge.
Mobile moments
According to Cook, the App Store rakes in more than double the revenue of its nearest rival (presumably Google Play).
Social apps continue to dominate app downloads. Making up the top five are Facebook, Messenger, YouTube, Instagram, and Skype.
Closer to home, Monopoly at Macca's, Tricky Test 2, iTunes U, and Uber are the most popular free apps in Australia.
