Three ways to extend organic reach on Facebook

While Facebook is now largely a pay-to-play space, there are still a few tips and tricks the crafty user can employ to increase their reach. 

Here are three easy ways to win.

1. Rich media

Text-only posts are so passé. Users (and Facebook's all-seeing algorithm) place high emphasis on rich media like photos and videos. 

Still need convincing? Check out how many visual posts now populate your news feed.

Even if you haven't produced the photo or video, consider attaching this rich media to increase your reach.

2. Ask a question

Everyone likes the opportunity to share their voice, and Facebookers are no exception. Asking a question in a post is a great way to kick start a conversation. Or if you like you could conduct something a bit more advanced like a poll.

Just be sure to keep a constant eye on the chatter, moderating and responding where appropriate.

3. Mix it up

Facebook users like diversity – the good news is this means you can get creative with your Facebook posts. 

Take a break from plugging your own wares to share interesting, relevant or just plain funny content. Show another, lighter side of your brand with the occasional irreverent post.
