The age of Twitter being an uninterrupted flow of unfiltered information is slowly coming to an end.
It turns out users are craving more ways to mute and craft the stream.
Twitter is listening, and has responded with a brand new button.
Thumbs down
Select users of Twitter's iOS app can now access an "I Don't Like this Tweet" button.
To use the feature, select a tweet and tap the down arrow in the top right corner.
Along with the usual sharing and reporting options, you can now register your dislike.
Bespoke
The move makes sense for Twitter. Unlike Facebook, which highly curates its feed, Twitter is still largely a digital free-for-all. And stagnant growth indicates the secret sauce is no longer working.
By giving users more agency over the tweets they'd like to see, engagement numbers might begin to turn around.
