Instagram is testing a new way to let users to tag friends in videos.
Tag that vid
Much like tagging any photo, users can tag a video by pressing the new icon found in the bottom left of a post. Instead of overlaying names of tagged friends, users will be linked to a list instead.
The list is labeled “People in this Video” and lists all the users that have appeared in the video or who the original poster wants to notify.
No Desktop support, yet
The new feature is exclusive to the Instagram app at present, with Instagram keeping mum about any wider rollout.
A small percentage of users are being tested and according to Instagram, “[they’re] always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and bring you closer to the people and things you love.”
Coupled with Instagram’s IGTV product, the ability to tag could help connect content with larger groups of users which could be an entirely new avenue for reaching audiences.
Have you been waiting for the ability to tag Instagram videos? Do you think this could be a game changer for the platform? Let us know in the comments.
