After reviewing how they show info in Search results, Google may grant you better SEO by using structured data.
Seat at the table
Google polled journalists to see how data presentation in Search impacted their discovery of information. They found that certain tabular modes of display are more practical than others.
So, Google has arrived at a new standard for showing tables in search results. If this helps info hunters quickly find what they need, it may enhance organic message sharing for folks who actually design their data the right way.
To do it properly, Google has released the next iteration of developer documentation for presenting sets of data online.
From journos to SEO
Interestingly, the Google Keyword blog post about it put journalists at both sides of the equation.
It goes on to say how news organisations can use structured data to better fulfil their mission of spreading important information. This is probably just to hit a Google PR quota of content targeting journalists.
In fact, all comms teams can use structured data to improve the spread of their message. Understanding how to make structured data do its best is now part of your SEO.
