Last week Australia became the world’s first smartphone nation, when statistics released by market research firm Kantar revealed that over 49% of Australians own a smartphone, the highest percentage of any nation.
After months of testing and speculation of an imminent Australian release, Facebook has announced that it will no longer be launching Facebook Deals, its nascent daily deals project. The social networking giant, who has been trialling Deals as a competitor to sites such as Groupon, gave no immediate reason for its decision, though confirmed it would continue to roll-out Check In Deals in Australia.
“I’d say 90% of the time we find that the assumptions we make are not correct. We’re happy with that because, it means we change it, we flip it so that it is right.,” says Bronwen Clune, Customer Development Manager at Pollenizer.
